The performance audit commenced last July 26, 2016 by an audit team created by the DENR-ARMM after the suspension of the mining firms from extraction since June 30. The result of the audit is expected to be released the soonest possible.

 

On Monday, August 22, DENR-ARMM will provide technical assistance to 96 barangays of Marawi City through conducting orientations on R.A 9003 or proper waste disposal and management as part of the department’s “Basuranihan” program.

 

The department also eyes on having a coordination meeting with the DILG-ARMM to adopt memorandum of agreement as partners in implementing programs on environment and natural resources concerns in the region.

 

On Tuesday, August 17, DENR-ARMM through its legal affairs chief Atty. Badrodin Pacasem has coordinated with the Regional Legislative Assembly of the plan to endorse and refile the Responsible Mining Law of the ARMM.

 

Last August 9 and 10, 69 top and middle management officials of the DENR-ARMM undergone re-orientation workshop on civil service laws, rules and regulations conducted by the Civil Service Commission.

 

Still part of the department’s 100 days action plan, 862 hectares or a total of 287 individuals in the towns of Shariff Aguak, Datu Salibo, Mamasapano, Shariff Saydona and Datu Saudi Ampatuan will benefit to a free land survey and titling as the department’s stake of the ARMM government’s Humanitarian and Development Action Plan (HDAP).

 

The department is also issuing a community based forest management agreement (agroforestry) in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

 

Other essential targets of the department are issuances of permits, licenses, clearances and patents as an environment regulatory services. The department is also working on issuances of air and water pollution clearances under its environmental management program.

 

As part of its forest resources management program, DENR-ARMM has allocated 2.2 million pesos to produce and distribute seedlings for its rehabilitation and reforestation project, as of now, the department already rehabilitated 52 hectares of forest land in the region. Planting of 25 thousand trees and 50 thousand mangroves is also on going in the five provinces of ARMM.

 

The DENR-ARMM is also conducting cooperation meetings with the barangay officials in the region to intensify the law enforcement on the protection of the forest through the formed Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force.

 

The department is also working hard to comply and maintain its good performance when it comes to governance, Secretary Kedtag, still as part of the 100 days action plan wants to review and update the department’s citizen’s charter and the enhancement of DENR-ARMM’s manual of operation. The department is also maintaining and updating its seal of transparency and compliance to good governance condition and make sure all liquidation reports and financial disbursements shall be complied and submitted on time.
