Datu Blah Mayor Bai Raida Tomawis-Sinsuat said most of it are coming from the province of Sultan Kudarat.
“Yung unang na-intercept natin dito galing sa DBS, sa barangay Resa pero yung dalawa pang sumunod na bangka were from Palembang, Sultan Kudarat”. Sinsuat said.
Maguindanao Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Doming Dagadas said after the issuance of seizure receipt, the administrative adjudication proceedings will follow immediately.
“Magpo-posting muna tayo to call upon the owners of these logs, kung may claimant they have to attend the proceeding, kung wala that’s the time na confiscated na talaga itong mga kahoy” Dagadas said.
“May instruction si Governor Mujiv Hataman na all apprehended forest product will be given through deed of donation sa DEPED para sa paggawa ng mga chairs and tables na magagamit ng mga nangangailangang estudyante sa ARMM”. Dagadas added.
DENR Regional Secretary Kahal Kedtag after series of apprehensions of forest products in Datu Blah Sinsuat has commended the LGU for their efforts to help the department in implementing the Total Log Ban in the region.
‘DBS intensifies environment protection programs’
Mayor Sinsuat said she issued an executive order to all the thirteen (13) barangays to help eliminate illegal logging activities in the municipality.
“I told them hindi talaga pwede, kahit kamag-anak pa, we have to implement the law. Sinsuat said.
Moreover, Sinsuat said they are working very hard for their municipality to be noticed in terms of good governance and environment protection.
The LGU is also aiming to be known for being among the cleanest coastal municipalities in the country.
“I have the support of the women in all barangays to keep the coastal areas clean all the time, I hope na someday mabigyang pansin ang DBS”. Sinsuat said.
Sinsuat said they also included in their proposal to Department of Budget and Management (DBM) a reforestation and seawall protection project in their municipality for 2017.
“Although Mahirap talaga yung sitwasyon namin dito kasi wala kaming IRA (Internal Revenue Allotment), challenge talaga ang mobility namin, pero we are working hard for our municipality”. Sinsuat said.
