DENR LAUNCHED SUSTAINABLE INTEGRATED AREA DEVELOPMENT (SIAD) PROGRAM IN MAGUINDANAO

 

BULUAN, MAGUINDANAO - A 21 million worth of project intended for massive bamboo and mangrove planting in lowlying areas in the province of Maguindanao was launched by the Environment and Natural Resources Department on Wednesday (April 5,2017).

DENR Secretary Regina Lopez led the launching of the project under Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD) program of the department.

The project will pilot with a total of 1,300 hectares of bamboo plantation in the town of Rajah Buayan.

Secretary Lopez assured the assistance of the department from the development to marketing of the product.

ARMM-DENR takes legal action on seized logs in Datu Blah Sinsuat


DATU BLAH SINSUAT, MAGUINDANAO – the ARMM’s environment and natural resources department has issued on Wednesday a seizure receipt to illegally cut logs intercepted by authorities in the town of Datu Blah Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

According to the local government of Datu Blah Sinsuat, around eighteen thousand (18,000) board feet of assorted illegally cut logs have been seized in the town since December last year with the help of the PNP and the Military.

DENR-ARMM Secretary Kahal Kedtag passes confirmation by RLA

 

COTABATO CITY (Nov.16, 2016) with 20-0 affirmative votes, the Regional Legislative Assembly (RLA) of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) has officially confirmed the appointment of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-ARMM) Secretary Kahal Kedtag on Wednesday, November 16, 2016.

 

Secretary Kedtag who’s been re-confirmed for the third time is the longest serving secretary of the department since his appointment in 2012. Since then, notable reforms have been implemented in the department.

DENR-ARMM to sue LGUs neglecting mandates of R.A 9003

 

COTABATO CITY, (Nov. 4, 2016) – ARMM’s environment and natural resources department is encouraging all Local Government Units (LGUs) in the region to provide and submit their comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) as mandated by the Republic Act 9003 widely known as Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

 

The R.A 9003 provides the required policy framework, institutional mechanisms and mandate to the LGUs to achieve 25 percent waste reduction target through establishing an integrated Solid Management Plan (SWMP) based on the 3Rs (reduce, reuse and recycling).

DENR-ARMM foregrounds free land titling project during the visit of President Duterte

Farmers and other residents of five (5) municipalities of the 2nd district of the province of Maguindanao is now starting to benefit from a free land survey and titling project of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-ARMM).

 

In fact, during the visit of President Rodrigo Duterte in ARMM’s capitol here in Cotabato City on Saturday, October 29, 2016, DENR-ARMM led by its secretary Kahal Kedtag foregrounded the project. The department invited fifteen (15) beneficiaries of the free land titling project for the ceremonial awarding of land titles.
